CRAVING SOME OF HGTV STAR, ATI WILLIAMS’ BEST TIPS? READ ON!

Feb 27, 2020, 17:22 PM
The first weekend of the Buffalo Home Show is a must-see, because HGTV’s DC Flippers star, Ati Williams, will be joining us right here in Western New York. She’ll be sharing her extensive renovation and design knowledge at the show on March 6 and 7, and we can hardly wait!

Aside from being an HGTV star, Ati is the Principal of Honeycomb Residential. She started getting the itch for home renovation after doing a few minor projects in her first home. Since then, Ati has worked on dozens of renovations from cosmetic fixes, to complete gut rehabs. What she loves most is breathing new life into a home’s old soul through tasteful and custom updates.

We couldn’t wait to get to know Ati a little better, so we sat down and asked her a few questions. And now, we’re even more excited for her to visit the Buffalo Home Show! Here’s what she had to say:

What tool should every homeowner own?
Ati: A tape measurer. Wrong measurements can cost you your entire project.

Wallpaper: love or hate?
Ati: Obsessed. I am especially loving the new trend with peel and stick. Great for walls, furniture, art etc.

Best home purchase for under $100?
Ati: A smart home device like Alexa. You can program lots of other things in the house like the temperature, blinds, lights, security system, and more.

Tell us about your pets.
Ati: I had the most magical, amazing dog Cooper but he died recently. My daughter is currently actively campaigning for a new pup. In the meantime, our pet beta fish will suffice.

What’s your favorite paint color?
Ati: Hale Navy. A dark navy blue that can be both warm and cool. It works in any size room, any esthetic and with any type of trim.

Any simple tips for upgrading a small bathroom?
Ati: Remove all old hardware (even light fixtures) and give them a coat of matte black spray paint. Put an epoxy coat in the tub to brighten it and install durable luxury vinyl tile.

What are you currently reading?
Ati: A lot of “Pete the Cat” with my kindergartener and Julie Lopez’s book, “Rewire the Brain.”

Any furniture thrifting tips?
Ati: My favorite place to thrift is the 100 Mile Yard Sale that happens once a year on Route 29 in Virginia.

Favorite kitchen gadget?
Ati: Our Breville toaster oven. We have a pretty fancy, heavy duty one that bakes, grills and air fries. We use it way more than our stove.

Are you a fan of the Mari Kondo method? What’s your best organization hack?
Ati: I am a failed minimalist. I like my stuff. However, my favorite hack is the clothing folding thing. We have little folding boxes everywhere.

What’s your favorite part about speaking at a home show?
Ati: I love it when people come prepared with their home projects for my advice. It is so fun looking at the pictures and floorplans and helping with some solutions.

Come out to the first weekend of the Buffalo Home Show and meet Ati. You won’t want to miss her presentations on the Main Stage, March 6 and 7 where she’ll be sharing all her home renovation secrets.
